517 FNUS55 KABQ 171948 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 148 PM MDT Sun Aug 17 2025 .DISCUSSION... Showers and thunderstorms will favor the east central plains toward the central highlands of New Mexico through early this evening where spotty areas of wetting rainfall will be observed. Storms will increase over the southwestern mountains and also along and east of the central mountain chain on Monday and again on Tuesday with a few strong to severe storms possible in northeastern New Mexico each day. Much of northwestern and portions of central New Mexico will continue to observe fewer storms and lower afternoon humidity through Tuesday. Thunderstorms are then forecast to reduce in number on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with warm to hot temperatures prevailing. A few stray dry storms will be possible late in the week in northwestern to west central areas of New Mexico where lightning may spark new wildfires. ................................................................
