468 FNUS55 KABQ 222146 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 346 PM MDT Thu May 22 2025 .DISCUSSION... Moist air will push into New Mexico from the east tonight, leading to lots of low clouds, higher humidity, and even some patchy fog over the eastern half of the state. However, into the afternoon Friday, winds will shift and increase from the south and southwest with humidity lowering again. The driest conditions will be found in western and central New Mexico Friday, but the strongest winds will be focused in northeastern areas where gusts of 30-35 mph will be most likely. This will lead to marginally critical fire weather conditions Friday with the driest fuels still found in western New Mexico and more moist vegetation being in northeastern areas, despite the winds being strongest there. Similar breezy to windy conditions will be observed on Saturday with warm to hot temperatures both days. Winds decrease slightly on Sunday with shifting wind direction in northeastern areas where a front will arrive. This front will increase moisture with showers and thunderstorms developing in portions of eastern New Mexico early next week. ................................................................
