077 FNUS55 KABQ 021916 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 116 PM MDT Sat Aug 2 2025 .DISCUSSION... Scattered afternoon thunderstorms developing along the Continental Divide and the central mountain chain this afternoon will track eastward. Storms from the divide to the Rio Grande Valley will favor gusty and erratic winds, while any storm along and east of the Sangre de Cristo`s will still be able to produce locally heavy rain, alongside lightning and gusty and erratic winds. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be favored over the northeastern plains. Afternoon thunderstorm activity falls to near zero Sunday and Monday with very dry conditions across western NM. Ten to eighteen hours of single-digit humidity will result over the Northwest Plateau, while moderate to major heat risk results from highs climbing to the upper 90s to near 100 over lower elevation areas. The heat continues thru the end of next week while some moisture will allow for virga showers and a few stray dry thunderstorms over western NM Tuesday, spreading to northern NM Wednesday thru Friday. ................................................................
