499 FNUS55 KABQ 290739 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 139 AM MDT Sun Jun 29 2025 .DISCUSSION... It will remain hot and very dry in most of western New Mexico today. The only exception will be a stray dry thunderstorm or two over the southwestern mountains this afternoon where lightning will threaten. East of the central mountain chain, isolated to scattered storms will be observed this afternoon and into the evening. Better humidity recoveries are forecast tonight into Monday morning, especially in the eastern half of New Mexico. Storms will expand into Monday, and all areas east of the Continental Divide will have at least a chance for rain. The focus for storms will still be along and east of the central mountain chain where soaking, if not flooding, rains are likely. Just west of the Continental Divide a few dry thunderstorms could produce new fire ignitions from lightning Monday afternoon. Into Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the moisture will continue increasing with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms each day. Storms are forecast to reduce and dwindle on the Fourth of July holiday. ................................................................
