706 FNUS55 KABQ 182011 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 211 PM MDT Mon Aug 18 2025 .DISCUSSION... Showers and thunderstorms are increasing a bit today, mainly over the southwestern mountains and also along and east of the central mountain chain. Storms will be slow-moving with spotty areas of soaking rainfall through the evening. These southwestern and eastern areas of New Mexico will observe excellent humidity recovery tonight through early Tuesday morning. Storms will redevelop in these areas again Tuesday afternoon with a few strong to severe storms in northeast New Mexico. Storms will tend to decrease in coverage Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with temperatures rising a few degrees, especially in northwest New Mexico. A few drier showers and thunderstorms will be possible during this time with much of the rainfall evaporating before reaching the ground in parts of west central to northwestern New Mexico. Lightning strikes may even spark a few new wildfires in these west central to northwestern areas. ................................................................
