After a cold start, high temperatures will finally climb above freezing today on the eastern plains as a shallow Arctic airmass finally exits eastward. Dry and warmer weather are forecast this weekend into early next week with different areas of poor and good ventilation. High temperatures will climax Monday with record and near record readings up to 20 degrees above 30-year averages. Temperatures will cool Tuesday in the east, then areawide on Wednesday as north and northwest winds become gusty. ................................................................
