616 FNUS55 KABQ 201225 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 625 AM MDT Sun Apr 20 2025 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH MONDAY FROM 1 TO 7 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... .DISCUSSION... The storm track will remain well to the north of NM during the first half of the week enabling high temperatures to climb above 30-year averages, humidities to fall, and seasonably gusty winds to develop each afternoon. A potent surface trough in the lee of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains looks to strengthen winds enough for critical fire weather conditions across the northeast plains Monday afternoon until sunset. A return flow of low level moisture is forecast to move northwestward into the eastern plains starting Monday night, then slosh in and out of the plains each night/day through Thursday with daily rounds of dryline thunderstorms. Late in the work week, a moist backdoor cold front will increase thunderstorms chances along and east of the central mountain chain with some gusty and dry thunderstorms possible further west across the north central mountains. ................................................................
