346 FNUS55 KABQ 121214 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 514 AM MST Wed Feb 12 2025 .DISCUSSION... Although, snow will turn lighter over the northern mountains today, windy and unsettled weather will still impact much of northern and central New Mexico. The strongest winds will be found over central areas of the state with the mountains and highlands observing gusts of 40 to 50 mph this afternoon. A few rain and snow showers will develop over southwestern New Mexico today, and temperatures will also turn colder in all areas. Temperatures will be especially cold in the northeastern corner of the state today along with cloudy conditions and a light wintry mix of drizzle, freezing drizzle, fog, and flurries. After a mostly dry Thursday, rain and snow will begin to arrive from the west Thursday night into Friday. This rain and snow will soak fuels for much of western and north central New Mexico with significant snow accumulations in the northern mountains (several inches in many areas with 1 to 2 feet in the Tusas mountains). Colder conditions are forecast for Saturday with lingering showers, mostly in north central New Mexico. Next week will start drier and warmer with breezy conditions on Monday. ................................................................
