An unseasonably strong ridge of high pressure will remain over the Desert Southwest for the next seven days with a continuation of record or near record high temperatures. Critically low humidities will also continue mainly over central and western areas today through Monday, then humidities are forecast to trend a little higher each day through the middle of next week. A backdoor front that pushes into the eastern plains Saturday night may produce a gusty east wind below canyons opening into the central valley on Sunday, when there may also be some gusty virga showers in the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains during the afternoon.
