599 FNUS55 KABQ 181243 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 643 AM MDT Fri Apr 18 2025 ...RED FLAG WARNING TODAY FROM NOON TO 7 PM MDT ALONG AND EAST OF I-25 (EXCEPT FOR UNION COUNTY) DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER... .DISCUSSION... Critical fire weather conditions will return along and east of I-25 today as the flow aloft remains strong and a back door cold front retreats over Union County. Wetting rain and snow will begin moving over western and north central areas today, then spread to the remainder of the fire weather forecast area tonight and Saturday before diminishing late Saturday night. The storm track will remain well to the north of NM during the week ahead with high temperatures eventually reaching several degrees above average with seasonably gusty winds each afternoon. Gulf moisture looks to return to portions of the eastern plains with wetting showers and thunderstorms starting Thursday. Drier and gustier storms may reach as far west as the central mountain chain. ................................................................
