460 FNUS55 KABQ 242052 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 252 PM MDT Sat May 24 2025 .DISCUSSION... Breezy to windy and warm to hot conditions will continue through the early evening before winds and heat begin to subside. Humidity remains very low across much of New Mexico, but especially the western and central areas where readings are dropping below 5 percent. Breezy conditions will still be common in the afternoons ahead, but overall wind speeds are forecast to be lower each day. Rain chances increase in northeastern New Mexico Sunday, before gradually spreading farther south and west through the middle of the week. Soaking rainfall with a few strong to severe thunderstorms will be observed in the eastern half of New Mexico each day with Wednesday potentially being one of the more active days. In western New Mexico, mostly dry conditions will prevail, but by Wednesday and Thursday, dry thunderstorms producing little, if any, rainfall will begin to develop. These dry storms will produce gusty winds and lightning which may ignite new wildfires. ................................................................
