259 FNUS55 KABQ 091927 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 127 PM MDT Sat Aug 9 2025 .DISCUSSION... Elevated to locally critical fire weather conditions are present over the Northwest Plateau this afternoon. Mixing heights reaching 14k to 15k feet will allow for the potential for active smoke plumes on active fires today and Sunday afternoon. Prevailing winds subside in this area Sunday and Monday while very low humidity persists. Isolated to scattered virga showers will still present a risk for gusty and erratic wind gusts across the southeastern half of the state today. Cooler temperatures and increased moisture fill into northeastern NM Sunday morning, advancing thru eastern NM Sunday night. Increased thunderstorm activity will be favored along the central mountain chain each afternoon thereafter. Some of this moisture will push into the Rio Grande Valley Monday evening, briefly reaching portions of northwestern NM Tuesday morning. Thereafter slow moving thunderstorms threatening locally heavy rainfall over recent burn scars will be the rule along the central mountain chain to end the work week. ................................................................
