Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  East Central Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 815 PM MDT.

* At 603 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of
  rain have fallen north and west of Cochiti Lake. Additional
  rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
  Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Santo Domingo Pueblo, Cochiti Pueblo, Cochiti Lake and Pena Blanca.

This includes the following recreation areas...
Tent Rocks National Monument.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in
steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and
drainages.
