The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northeastern Curry County in east central New Mexico...
  East Central Quay County in east central New Mexico...

* Until 1045 PM MDT.

* At 839 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of
  rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Bard and the Glenrio Welcome Center at the NM/TX state line.

This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 361 and 373.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and
dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
