The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
  Southwest Texas

* Effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 125 PM until
  1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
  Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3.5
    inches in diameter likely
  Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
    mph possible
  A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Splitting supercells are expected to form early this
afternoon immediately east of the Guadalupe and Davis Mountains, and
spread eastward into the Pecos Valley through this evening.  The
most intense storms will be capable of producing very large hail up
to 3.5 inches in diameter and isolated severe outflow gusts of 60-75
mph.  An isolated tornado or two may occur with favorable storm
interactions in the strongly unstable environment.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70
statute miles east and west of a line from 20 miles northeast of
Wink TX to 45 miles west southwest of Dryden TX. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
