818 WWUS20 KWNS 211739 SEL8 SPC WW 211739 GAZ000-NCZ000-SCZ000-CWZ000-220100- URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Severe Thunderstorm Watch Number 608 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 140 PM EDT Fri Aug 21 2026 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Eastern Georgia Southern and Eastern North Carolina Central and Northeast South Carolina Coastal Waters * Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 140 PM until 900 PM EDT. * Primary threats include... Scattered damaging wind gusts to 65 mph possible Isolated large hail events to 1 inch in diameter possible SUMMARY...Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to continue to develop and intensify through the afternoon across the Piedmont into the coastal plain. The stronger thunderstorms will be capable of wind damage in the vicinity of the more intense water-loaded downdrafts. Peak gusts will likely range 55 to 65 mph and isolated large hail around 1 inch in diameter is also possible. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles north and south of a line from 50 miles south of Greenville SC to 10 miles south of New Bern NC.
