...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN PUTNAM...
NORTHWESTERN KANAWHA AND NORTHEASTERN LINCOLN COUNTIES THROUGH 200 PM
EDT...

At 129 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Alum Creek, or 10 miles south of Nitro, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Charleston, Nitro, Jefferson, South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar,
Sissonville, Poca, Cross Lanes, Alum Creek, Institute, Tornado, Coal
Fork, Sod, and Woodville.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 4.
 Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 96 and 113.
 Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 45 and 57.
 Route 119 between mile markers 63 and 80.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
