Today:

Cloud cover remains abundant this morning across the state with rain
showers ongoing across portions of northern into northwestern Iowa and
far eastern Iowa, a line of showers, with a few thunderstorms
possible, moving through east central headed into eastern Iowa, and
light rain/drizzle in portions of central Iowa. Although no impacts
are expected, a few snowflakes may also be observed in far northwest
Iowa as temperatures continue to cool early this morning! As of 4 AM,
temperatures are in the upper 30s northwest, 40s north central to
west, and 50s to 60s in central to eastern Iowa.

Precipitation will gradually come to an end into early afternoon,
lifting northward or eastward with time through the morning hours.
Gradual clearing is also expected west to east across the state
behind the end of the precipitation later this morning through the
afternoon. Today will be much cooler than our last few warm days with
highs only in the 40s north to 50s south. It will feel even chillier
with increasing winds out of the northwest around 15-25 mph and gusts
to around 30-35 mph.

Tonight and beyond:

Winds will decrease into this evening but conditions will remain
chilly for many Trick or Treaters as evening temperatures will be in
the 30s north to mid 40s south before lows fall to the upper 20s north
to mid 30s south into Friday morning.

Dry conditions are expected on Friday with highs again in the 50s but
shower and storm chances return later Saturday into early next week as
temperatures warm back up to the upper 50s to 60s by Sunday.
