Elsewhere, skies will be clear to partly cloudy, except for some patchy fog lingering into the early afternoon over the western and central Dakotas. Highs this afternoon will top off in the upper 30s over northern Minnesota to the lower 50s across eastern Montana and southern South Dakota. Lows tonight will be in the lower 20s to lower 30s region wide. A low pressure system will move across South Dakota and into Minnesota on Friday. This will bring a swath of light precipitation from the central Dakotas into northern Minnesota. Although precipitation is expected to be light, there is a possibility of some light snow, or even some light freezing rain over northern South Dakota northward to around the I-94 corridor in North Dakota Friday morning and early afternoon. Highs Friday will range from the 40s northeast to the 50s southwest. Saturday is expected to be mostly dry with highs climbing into the 40s northeast to lower 60s over southwest South Dakota. Late Saturday and Sunday will bring another round of precipitation. This time, temperatures will be warm enough that only rain showers are expected. In fact, showers will be likely over the eastern half of the region. Thunderstorms will also be possible over the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening. Rain showers will linger over the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota into Monday while western portions of the region dry out. Highs on Sunday will be mainly in the 50s region wide, cooling into the 40s west and central, with some 60s southeast on Monday. $$
